Ebay Alert! Seller petermak_hk suspect fraudster

with 2 comments

Seller petermak_hk is using private auctions to sell flash items such as MP4 players. Fightfakeflash is awaiting test results from an ebayer who bought from this seller so that the buyer’s test results can be confirmed and passed to sosfakeflash for addition to the database. Seller petermak_hk is also selling “32gb” flash drives marked with the registered trademark name DATA TRAVELLER. This trademark belongs to Kingston. Kingston does not make a 32GB drive of this type so how can he sell one? 21 ebayers bought one of these on 17th January alone. None can be contacted to suggest they test their drives because buyer IDs are kept private. Draw your own conclusions.

If you bought USB flash drives, MP4 players or other items using flash memory from petermak_hk please test with h2testw and send results along with your eBay ID ,seller’s ID, item number and date of purchase to for addition to the database and follow advice on sosfakeflash to get a refund. Do not bid on flash memory of any sort if the seller is keeping your id private. The item is almost certainly a fake – otherwise why hide buyer IDs? See the page about suspect sellers for information about why sellers may be considered suspect.

  2. I ordered a the 32GB USB memory stick from petermak_hk about 10 days ago and just received an email from Ebay stating the following: “Unfortunately, we had to remove this listing and cancel all bids. We don’t like to remove listings — it’s disappointing for everyone — but sometimes we need to do it.”. Sounds like they may have been fake, but the strange thing is that there are more for sale on Ebay from seller petermak_hk for the same price.
