Ebay seller niuren2008 de-registered and listings removed

with 18 comments

An eBay seller, based in China, who apparently sold counterfeit Kingston USB flash drives has been de-registered by ebay and listings have been removed. Seller niuren2008 was suspected of being a new id for a seller of these counterfeits who stopped listing these drives and currently has no listings.

  2. I never received my USB drive after a month & I filed a paypal claim on 3/31/09. He never responded so I’m waiting to get my refund back from paypal, assuming niuren2008 has any money left from his paypal account but knowing this guy, he probably took all his money out, closed his account & fled into the Hong Kong night!

  3. I’m not returning it…at least not to this chinese scammer.
The deal is my 10 day period to return the drive is almost over and paypal hasn’t replied.

  4. On no account return the drive – the response from paypal is from a robot (computer program) not a human being. See all the advice about refunds on sosfakeflash for information on how to deal with the situation. We have all been told to send them back until we got to a real human being.

  5. Hello.
I got one from this thief as well, here’s the report:

Warning: Only 31983 of 31984 MByte tested.
The media is likely to be defective.

    0 KByte slightly changed (< 8 bit/sector, 0 sectors)
    24.4 GByte corrupted (51258960 sectors)
1.5 KByte aliased memory (3 sectors)
    First error at offset: 0x0000000000000008

    H2testw version 1.3
    Writing speed: 21.0 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 14.2 MByte/s

paypal wants the item sent back to niuren, I doubt that’s a goods idea as his address is probably a fake, also a post with tracking? Gee, I’ll only lose more money.

  11. Hi James,

The drive may arrive – takes a while for things to arrive from China, but if it does it will be a fake. If your flash drive doesn’t arrive within 21 days of payment file a paypal claim on the basis that the item never arrived. If it does arrive test it with h2testw, file results with sosfakeflash using the report a fake tab and file a claim with paypal on the basis that it is fake capacity. Read all the stuff about refunds on sosfakeflash so that you don’t fall into any of the traps that can lead to you losing your refund.

If you want a real 32GB flash drive go to play.com – don’t buy from the play trade listings – there are some fraudsters there too – buy only directly from the company themselves. I haven’t bought a 32GB from them but have bought lots of lower capacity from 1GB to 16GB. The drives I bought there were geniune – h2testw ran without errors.

  15. We advise that you test the drive with h2testw when it arrives. If it fails the test you should claim a refund through paypal (there is a lot of advice about refunds on the sosfakeflash blog) and file your test results with sosfakeflash using the “report a fake” tab. Hope this helps.

  17. What was said it that this seller APPARENTLY (seems to have) sold counterfeit / fake capacity drives. Until we have test results from those who bought these we cannot say that he DID. Anyone who bought drives from this seller should test immediately with h2tesw. Reporting the item to sosfakeflash (via the report a fake tab) allows them to confirm that the drives are (as we suspect) fake and put out an alert.

  18. Did one of you guys actually received the usb drive? Is it really a 32gb?
So the problem is that this is not a kingston memory right?
