Is 360gb higher than 2gb?

with one comment

Some people enter the question “is 360gb higher than 2gb?” in web searches. We at fightflashfraud have a simple answer to this if the question refers to USB flash drives. What is our answer?

VERY UNLIKELY!

There is no such thing as a 360GB USB flash drive. Such high capacities are not yet possible! All 360GB thumb pen USB flash drives advertised on the Internet are small capacity drives (usually 2GB or less) programmed to fool the operating system and the user by displaying a capacity of 360GB. Use one at your peril – you will soon lose all your files!!

UK ebayer eskimogazza sells a very familiar 64GB fake flash drive

UK ebay seller eskimogazza has been selling the very familiar 64GB fake shown above. The seller says in the listing:
THESE MEMORY DRIVES ONLY ACCEPT WRITTEN DOCUMENTS AND PICTURES IVE HAD A NUMBER OF THEM THAT STOPPED WORKING WHEN ANY KIND OF VIDEO OR MUSIC WAS SAVED ON TO THEM.
SO DO NOT BID ON THEM IF YOU INTEND TO SAVE MUSIC OR VIDEOS ON THEM AS THEY WILL STOP WORKING AND I WILL NOT REFUND YOUR CASH.
IVE OPENED EACH MEMORY STICK AND TESTED IT TO MAKE SURE ITS 100%

The reason you can not save video or music on the drives sold by eskimogazza is that music and video files are larger than the real capacity. The seller’s idea of testing was probably to look at the properties and load a few small files. This is not testing! Fake flash drives fool the operating system and once you exceed the real capacity (by loading a large file such as a video or enough small files to exceed the tiny real capacity) they stop working. This is because there is nowhere for the files to go!! If you bought one you should test immediately with h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.
