Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

Seems like yet another new fraud ID registered on ebay China

with 2 comments

This flash drive is too cheap to be genuine – we suspect lwz_lwz is yet another ID set up by Chinese fraud gangs. As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

  1. Looks like ebay may have removed the seller’s listings. This could either mean that they are watching this blog and using the info here or they finally got some human beings watching the site for fraud.

If we were being pessimistic we might conclude ebay are using the information on this blog to suspend sellers and remove their listings to protect fraudster IDs from negative feedback.

If we were being optimistic we might conclude ebay have finally woken up to their responsibilities and is taking the issue of fake flash seriously at last.

Only time will tell which of these scenarios are the truth. We would like to think the second scenario is the case but fear (given what we have seen to date) that the first may be more likely.

Either way it appears that ebay considers that the items sold by lwz_lwz are fraudulent – anyone who bought one and receives their item should test with h2tesw immediately the drive arrives, report in to sosfakeflash and whack in their paypal refund claim straight away!
