Fake flash memory cards re-sold by UK ebay member

with 8 comments

missec123

Ebay member missec123 bought these 32GB memory cards from suspended fraudster yaya0331 and resold them – they are fake capacity and will cause users to lose most of what they save on these. The seller is listing 64GB DataTraveler flash drives in private auctions – we are almost certain that these will prove to be counterfeit.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

  1. hi ians1,

We wish you luck with your attempts to get some action taken. Attempts made by people previously to get something done certainly got nowhere with UK, Hong Kong, Chinese, Australian, Canadian or USA authorities – everyone seemed to shrug theirs shoulders because it is an international problem and not confined to ebay by any means.

We seldom say anything about other sites we see fraud on because we can hardly keep up with reporting what we see on ebay (where all of us bought fake flash memory) without trying to report about it everywhere else too!

Fake flash fraud in China / Hong Kong / Singapore is certainly highly organised but we have no way of knowing whether or not there is a Triad or Mob connection. Maybe and maybe not.

You might find it helpful to work with the journalist we mentioned in this post:

    https://fightflashfraud.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/upcoming-article-about-internet-fraud-for-which-magazine

He wants to talk to people about their experiences. Publicity in the traditional media (newspapers, magazines, TV and radio) would help draw attention to the issue and perhaps put pressure on authorities around the world to take action.

If you would like to be put in touch with the journalist in question just leave a response and we will contact you by email. We never publish anyone’s contact details on the blog unless the person specifically requests us to do so as we value people’s privacy, so neither party’s email address will be revealed to anyone else.

  2. I have written to various Euro MPs with a view to getting some action started at EU level (ebay and Paypal are registered in Luxembourg an EU nation) I will let you know of any responses.

Its about time ebay and Paypal were brought to account for these sales they continue to allow that are blatantly fraudulent.

Could it be there is a link with Triad in Hong Kong and The Mob?

  3. I see this seller has earned what I consider a well deserved negative feedback. That is what happens when a seller buys fake goods off another seller and tries to sell them on again. We have seen this here before.

The seller was given good advice, but seems to have decided to ignore it.

The feedback left by others on this seller says it all. This seller has been selling fakes.

The seller has been using private listings to hide the sales of fakes.

The evidence is there for all to see, despite the seller trying to hide it.

    Slandering a good sellers name?

I see no good sellers here.

  4. To Gunnell

At the time this post was written the frankenflash project did not yet have the proof that the cards sold by yaya0331 were fake capacity. We do have proof now – so for “almost certain” you can now read “absolutely certain”. Seller yaya0331 is not an alledged fraudster – the seller has been proven to have sold fake memory cards.

Gunnell and Jimbo wouldn’t happen to be alternate names for seller missec123 by any chance would they? Usually when someone tells us to get a life it’s an angry seller we caught out with fakes!
