Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

Another USA ebayer with a too cheap to be genuine DT150

with one comment

We think the 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 150 flash drives from flashmaster38 are likely to be counterfeit and fake capacity. Buyers should check the serial number with Kingston. As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

  1. Surprise, surprise!

This seler was also reported to Kingston and had their listing removed as counterfeit.

Ebay only removes these counterfeits when forced to do so by Kingston.

If you see an obvious counterfeit 64gb DT150 (basically anything under ¬£80.00 as a rule) try using the “Report item” option and see if anything gets done. No? No surprise there then.

At least if you press the “Print” button beside it, you get something for your efforts.

Don’t let that stop you from reporting these fakes though. There is always hope of gathering enough evidence against ebay to make them pay for their obvious inaction on obvious counterfeits. Every time you use the “Report item” option, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. There may be a time you are all called upon to send in this evidence to help bring ebay to account. Maybe then ebay would get the independent policing so badly needed.
