The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

Ebay member has counterfeit Kingston listings removed.

with one comment

An ebay member who listed a large number of high capacity USB flash drives on ebay, firstpowersell786, has had most of the flash memory items listed removed by ebay. This seller listed a range of USB flash drives which members of the frankeflash project considered counterfeit including:

32GB Kingston DataTraveler 150
64GB Kingston DataTraveler 150
32GB Kingston DataTraveler HyperX
32GB Kingston DataTraveler HyperX
32GB Corsair Voyager

The Kingston items were at the request of the company. Kingston (like a number of other companies) are increasingly putting pressure on ebay about the issue of counterfeits on ebay. The frankenflash has been working with Kingston and other companies to have counterfeit flash memory items removed for some time, but progress was slow at first.

Things have speeded up with the removal of counterfeit Kingston due to the efforts of dedicated members in the counterfeit team at the fightflashfraud branch of the frankenflash project. If you bought a Kingston USB flash drive from firstpowersell786 it will have vanished from your won list.

If you have not yet paid for a Kingston flash drive sold by firstpowersell786 -DON’T pay – ebay know the items are counterfeit. If you did pay claim a refund through paypal (see refund advice at sosfakeflash) – there is no excuse not to give you a refund as the item is counterfeit and ebay knows it!!

You can learn more about why a Kingston flash drive or other item may have vanished from ebay here:

At the time of writing the only suspected counterfeits listed by firstpowersell786 that have not been removed by ebay are the corsair voyager flash drives. We are convinced these are counterfeit as well.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

  1. It is good to see this kind of pressure being applied to these counterfeit sellers.

I have just checked over firstpowersell786 listings.

The seller has absolutely nothing for sale. Corsairs are gone too.

If you have bought a drive from this seller, please test and send in your results to the email address given at http://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/report-a-fake/ Your input is welcomed and valued by the team here at fightflashfraud. The more evidence gathered on these sellers, the better. This is your chance to help fight against the injustice we all suffer as a result of this ongoing fraud.
