265GB Kingston DataTraveler 300 sold on ebay

with 5 comments

We think the 265GB Kingston DataTraveler 300 USB flash drives sold on ebay by kevcom123 (based in the USA) are very likely to prove counterfeit and fake capacity. We advise any buyers to contact Kingston and try to verify the serial number – we have a suspicion that Kingston will say they cannot verify that the drive is genuine.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

Enorm FAKE

I leave this in Nederlands for interested readers, we get little non-English posts, the gist of the message infers
that the device brought from IOFFER.COM did not have the capacity it was supposed to have, on second reading
the capacity of the device was lower, in short, as the author says “Enormous Fake”

  3. I reported my suspicions on sosfakefdlash, that eBay are now operating a “turnstile” on the number of reports a member may make.. I asked these questions!

Did you get a response from their automatic email sender for EVERY report you made?
Did you get any responses with a different message showing your report handled by another section of the Trust & Safety section?
Did you notice that when you reported more than 2 listings, you only got ONE response?

Is eBay running a daily “turnstile” where only the FIRST report gets accepted, the rest go ignored?
If so it this a way eBay are using to reduce the load on the T & S staff, of just a way to piss you off?

    Comments please…

  4. Hi Traveler,

It seems that ebay has indeed turned into a cesspit of fraud. This is very sad. Many of us liked ebay and had good experiences before (it seems) ebay went all out in pursuit of profit at the expense of members.

We think ebay may well become a footnote in history if they continue in this vein. This would be a shame. They should go back to their roots and stop being so greedy and lazy if they really want to survive.

  5. This seller has proof in their feedback they have already sold fake capacity and counterfeit goods recently.

On the 22nd of August the seller received positive feedback for a recently sold 64gb Kingston DT101. With the DT101 only being available in capacities up to 16gb it is fair to say this seller cannot be trusted.

It is also safe to say that if this seller obviously never obtained the first fake capacity counterfeit from an authorised Kingston supplier, it is highly unlikely the DT300’s came from a reputable source either.

These are the kind of sellers you should never consider buying from. Either they have not got a clue what they are selling or they are being intentionally fraudulent.

Ebay has become one big cesspit of fake flash sellers out to thieve off the unwary. Keep your hard earned money away from these crooks and buy from your established local suppliers or reputable online retailers. At least that way you get what you paid for.
