Cautious ebay gremlin builds up feedback score before fake sales

usbquatos

gremlin2sIt seems that the Gremlin (fraudulent technology sales) ID usbquatos was carefully built up so that there was a big positive feedback score before embarking on fake flash memory sales.

The ID is registered on ebay China, no doubt by one of the familiar fraud gangs there who have been selling fake flash memory on ebay for a long time.

Money was invested in this ID (by selling cheap items at a loss) in order to build this positive feedback score as a buffer against the inevitable negative feedback that fraudsters eventually get.

It seems that our fraudster friends in China are hoping to hang onto this ID a bit longer than some of the IDs they have set up recently which began listing fake flash memory immediately they were registered.

We wouldn’t touch flash memory items sold by usbquatos with a bargepole and advise you to steer clear! As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

  1. usbquatros may be related to hjstore. IDs created about the same time, both selling 16GB flash drives, accounts started life selling nintendo stylus and targeting UK market.

  2. Hi Randy,

If you see a gremlin picture in a listing or the mention of gremlins in wording you can be sure that we think the ID in question is one suspected of being an ID created by a known fraud gang.

They treat some IDs as “disposable” – fakes are often listed almost as soon as the ID is registered when there is a 0 feedback score.

Sometimes they put effort into building some feedback in the hope that the ID will last a bit longer.

We have made it more difficult for the fraudsters to set up new IDs – but a big problem remains with doing something about the long established fraud IDs such as intertrade-connection

  3. Just checked …
    http://myworld.ebay.ca/usbquatos/

is “no longer a registered user”.

Did sell 100s of 3 X Stylus Touch Pen For Nintendo for 1 penny with free shipping.

Hopefully this seller lost money and will not be back on ebay. I expect this to be too much to ask as this method of purchasing feedback using Nintendo stylus has been used a number of times and may indicate this is a reapearance of a fake flash seller.

  4. Maybe people should purchase more of the cheap items from this seller and leave neg feedback (to reflect the quality of the cheap goods being sold)?
