Another gremlin on ebay selling classic fake flash drives

gremlin2sSeller miss_wong88 quite rightly describes this supposedly 32GB flash drive as “classic” – it is a classic fake that has been sold on ebay by fraudsters for years!

This has been the fraudsters’ favourite flash drive for reprogramming from a small capacity (usually 4GB at most) to any fake capacity the fraudster chooses.

miss_wong88As ever we can say that without doubt the leather USB flash drive shown in this listing from miss_wong88 will be nothing like 32GB. It is likely to corrupt any data saved on it after (probably) about 1.7GB or (less likely) about 3.5-3.7GB. These flash drives are simply not safe to use.

This seller also offers the supposedly 32GB Sony flash drive shown on the right. As far as we are aware this is not made by Sony (so is therefore counterfeit) and will not be 32GB – though of course this is what will show in properties due to fraudulent programming of the control chip.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.
