Suspect looking Kingston DT150 on ebay USA

with one comment

This 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 150 flash drive listed by USA ebay member cecyrosmary looks like a counterfeit to us. If it is counterfeit it will be fake capacity and will trash users files. Serial numbers for genuine DT150 flash drives can be verified with Kingston. The seller no doubt purchased these from one of the many fraudulent wholesale outlets supplying counterfeits and may have no idea there could be a problem.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have purchased a false capacity device on ebay.

  1. This seller already had 4 drives removed as counterfeits after ebay were made to do so after pressure from Kingston.

The seller was advised by an ebay member previous to the drives being removed. Links were also provided to Kingston online verification and these pages and the seller strongly advised to test with h2testw to see for themselves. The advice was ignored.

All this seller has done is relist these counterfeits to carry on and complete their fraud, regardless of the consequences to others.

The seller also lists 16gb Sony Pro Duo cards. I can only presume they are from the same source as the counterfeit Kingstons and therefore advise to stay well clear of this seller.
