The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler flash drives listed on ebay by tkgeneric09 are just too cheap to be genuine. We conclude that these must be yet more counterfeits purchased from a fraudulent supplier.

There are many fraudulent wholesale outlets in the far east supplying counterfeits. Counterfeit flash drives are also fake capacity and trash users files when the true capacity is exceeded. They seeem to have the capacity stated when you plug them into their computer because fraudulent programming of the control chip fools the operating system.

We strongly suggest tkgeneric09 check the serial numbers with Kingston – if we are wrong (highly unlikely) then Kingston will be able to confirm that they are genuine. We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
