USA ebay seller lists 120GB USB flash drives on ebay

snoopyfaint2sPoor old snoopy fainted yet again when he saw the ebay listing below from babiespower.
Snoopy knows his USB flash drives and can say for a fact that there is no genuine USB flash drive with a capacity of 120GB.

He just isn’t coping with what he sees on ebay these days – so many fakes, so many victims of fraud.

Snoopy is quite correct. USB flash drives (the things a little bigger than, about the same size as, or smaller than a cigarette lighter) are not made in 120GB capacities. You can buy portable hard drives with a USB connector – but these are larger and won’t fit comfortably on your keyring, lanyard or in you jeans pocket!

Seller babiespower seems to have a lot of these fakes available for sale. The listing states there are three models available and that stock is as follows:

Item Code: 101028 Bone Style 68 in stock
Item Code: 101030 Penguin Style 75 in stock
Item Code: 101038 Paw Style 120 in stock

So that’s 263 potential victims who could end up with a fake. If babiespower did not know these were fake we suggest the seller removes listings immediately – hopefully before any are sold. Otherwise babiespower could end up with a lot of negatives and suspension by ebay.

Snoopy advises everyone to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw. whether or not they bought it on ebay. He says there are a lot of fakes sold elsewhere too.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device on ebay. Snoopy says every report counts and he is distressed at how few victims report in properly with all the details needed by the frankenflash project.

Poor old snoopy! A couple of years back he used to enjoy getting on his laptop (he upgraded from his manual typewriter a long time ago in favour of new technology) and looking at ebay. Back then he picked up some bargains and even made friends with some of the sellers.

Now he says ebay seems to be turning into a fraud site. This has made him very unhappy. He wishes more ebayers would help him and the frankenflash project who run these blogs (among other things) to combat the fraud on ebay.
