Another ebay gremlin ID registered in China goes into action!

gremlin2sIt seems the ebay ID nba189 belongs to one of our fraudster friends in China. This ID was prepared well in advance – the ID was registered in September 2008, but this little gremlin was only activated recently.

The flash drive shown below will have a capacity much smaller than the advertised 16GB.

nba189This flash drive is the fraudster’s favourite. In the buy it now listing by nba189 it is advertised as 16GB – though it is often listed with much bigger fake capacities by the fraud gangs in China.

This devious little gremlin (though not bold enough to list it as 128GB) has decided to con people into thinking items are in the UK by listing location as Macclesfield.

The seller is offering you the chance to trash a fair few files for the princely sum of £9.30 with free P&P – a bargain for any student whose assignments are rubbish who wants an excuse for not handing in their work! Just put all your assignments on one of these and ‘pouf’ – gone! The files can never be opened again!!

Fake flash drives eventually corrupt users’ data when the true capacity is exceeded as there is nowhere for them to go.

We advise everyone to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.
