UK ebay member lists fake DT200 bought on ebay

leave a comment »

UK ebay member sagnett listed this flash drive for sale at auction.

Investigation shows that it was purchased from auctionshop1 – an ebay member we previously reported as selling suspect Kingston flash drives. We are certain it is a fake – though sagnett probably has not realised, since it seems the packaging has not been opened.

We suggest that sagnett checks the serial number with Kingston and if (as we expect) Kingston cannot verify the drive as genuine sagnett should end the auction and claim a refund from auctionshop1.

Seller auctionshop1 seems to have sold 40 more of these since the listing below ended on October 3rd. We previously posted about this seller offering DataTraveler I50 Drives.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
