Suspect looking 16GB USB flash drives on ebay USA

leave a comment »

treasureustnTwo things make us very suspicious about these 16GB USB flash drives listed by seller treasureustn on ebay USA.

Firstly we have seen fakes in this packaging before (and we haven’t come across any genuine flash drives in it) and secondly the picture shows a tell-tale shiny capacity sticker which we have only ever seen on fakes.

The seller has other models of flash drive for sale so we think that treasureustn bought from one of the many fraudulent wholesale suppliers out there who supply fake capacity flash drives that trash users’ files.

The seller may be totally unaware of the fake flash problem – perhaps someone could suggest that treasureustn tests his or her stock with h2testw. We think this will show a capacity of 4GB or less.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.
