Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

64GB Kingston DT200 drives sold by this UK ebayer must be fake!

The fightflashfraud team didn’t notice the listings for 64GB Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drives by UK seller dropship2009 until after all three listed had sold. These simply have to be counterfeit (and therefore fake capacity causing file loss and corruption) as you simply cannot buy genuine ones, even wholesale, at the prices these sold at.

We think the seller probably knows they are fakes as private listings were used. Private sales hide what was sold so that no one knows what a feedback comment is about unless buyers decide to put something like “fake 64GB DataTraveler failed testing with h2test” in a comment.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
