Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

Are these 128GB Kingston drives on ebay genuine? We think not!

We don’t think for a moment that the 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives listed on ebay Australia by seller ranshelle are genuine.

It seems this ebayer (like many others) bought USB flash drives from a fraudulent wholesaler. Almost all the flash memory items sold on ebay are fakes. Some are sold by deliberate fraudsters who know full well that they are selling fakes that will destroy your data.

Others are sold by ebayers who did not research the cost of flash memory and bought from fraudulent wholesalers without realising.

We think ranshelle probably belongs in the former category – nobody lists such an expensive item at such a low start price as ranshelle did if they are genunine (99 Australian cents!) – too big a financial risk.

Unfortunately our team (all volunteers doing it for no pay in their spare time) cannot spot fakes in time to contact most sellers soon enough to warn them that what they are selling is fake before anyone buys.

A year ago we could usually contact most victim sellers in time, before anything was sold – now there are so many that we usually can’t contact them before they sell fakes, so they end up being posted here.

We need volunteers to contact sellers we post about here who may be innocent of fraud.
Just send the seller a question and point them to the post about them – they can then follow the link to h2testw, test their items, refund buyers, challenge the supplier and, hopefully, get a refund.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items ANYWHERE to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
