Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

UK ebayer sells obviously counterfeit 64GB Kingston DataTravelers

with 3 comments

This model of Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drive is not made in 64GB capacity. It is counterfeit and fake capacity. Seller scomm2010 obviously bought from a fraudulent supplier without checking the Kingston website to see what is really available. Counterfeit drives like this corrupt files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

  1. Seller has 3 feedback dated 3 weeks ago, none mention refunds, or have any follow up feedback YET: However the there is now an additional feedback dated 21st Jan which might be delayed feedback or it could mean the seller did allow the sales to proceed despite advice to check.

  2. Hi Micro,

Hope you are right. If this seller realises his or her mistake, refunds buyers and does not do what some sellers do – list the fakes as “faulty” after removing original listings – we wish the seller well.

  3. I am informed the member that contacted this seller
advises that the seller has stopped the sales to investigate the items, the message also contained information about h2testw being used by the seller.
Maybe this is one saved seller, not too late as it seems none of the sold items has been dispatched yet.
