USA ebay member sells counterfeit Kingston DataTraveler 200

leave a comment »

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drives sold by sportygigabite07 simply have to be counterfeits, they are far too cheap to be anything else. Genuine flash drives of this type have individual serial numbers that can be verified with Kingston – we are certain Kingston won’t verify these.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

Fraudster in China sells counterfeit Kingston, ebayer in America re-sells them

An ebay member in the United States bought three of the counterfeit and fake capacity 64GB Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drives (shown in listing number 220455933523 above) from fraudulent seller nianji_dan200888 (based in China) in January. Now jinyoungm3 is re-selling them – one listing shown below:

Counterfeit USB flash drives corrupt files after a while. We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Seller nianji_dan200888 is no longer a registered user and it looks as though listings have been removed by ebay. If you bought from this seller your item will no doubt have vanished from your won list but details will still show in your paypal account.

We think this 1GB USB flash drive listed on ebay by mydashop may well prove to be a fake that will trash users’ files. Every flash drive we tested that had one of the little capacity stickers shown in the picture have been shown to be fake capacity file corrupters.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

fake 16GB USB flash drive from ebayer in Korea

This leather and steel model of flash drive always turns out to be a fake. No matter what size it is sold at the real capacity is usually under 2GB though the operating system is fooled into reporting the advertised capacity. We don’t think the ones listed on ebay by xiyouji1houzhuan2010 will be any different! These drives always corrupt files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

This UK ebayer risks a loss if Sandisk USB flash drives are genuine

leave a comment »

UK ebay seller billy18062008 has listed quite a number of Sandisk USB flash drives in one day auctions with a low start price. This is a very risky strategey if items are genuine and makes us wonder if these could be counterfeits purchased from a fraudulent wholesaler. If they are counterfeit they will corrupt users’ files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

We have little doubt that these 128GB USB flash drives listed by sammaxcy will prove to be fake capacity and will corrupt users’ files.

UPDATE 19/01/10
Seller sammaxcy ignored the advice of ebay members and continued with sales of fake flash drives. As well as the very obvious fake shown above this ebay member also sold counterfeit Kingston flash drives. All USB flash drives from this seller will undoubtedly corrupt files.

another fraud ID selling counterfeit Kingston flash drives on ebay

The ebay ID haonengtong147 undoubtedly belongs to one of the fraud rings in China selling counterfeit and fake capacity flash memory items on ebay. The buy it now price for this 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drive is far too low for it to be anything other than a fake that will corrupt users’ files.

This cheeky fraudster (who is using private listings to hide sales – never buy flash memory in private ebay sales, you are almost certain to get a fake) says in the listing:

Many sellers supply grey market, refurbished or factory seconds goods at similar pricing to us. We guarantee that our products are brand new, official and first-class quality.

We beg to differ! First class fakes that fool the operating system and user maybe! We’d bet our bottom dollar that buyers will not be able to verify serial numbers with Kingston as you can for genuine ones.

Bulk sale of 20pcs of 2GB Sandisk USB flash drives on ebay USA

We find this listing by 0913phoenix on ebay USA a bit odd. What business would choose to auction a bulk lot of 20 Sandisk USB flash drives on ebay at start price that is only a quarter of the retail price? However, as the seller seems to have loaded the postage costs a bit maybe he or she will break even if there are enough bids – let’s hope that if the buyer tests them with h2testw they prove to be genuine.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.
