Another UK ebay seller with counterfeit 64GB Kingston DT200

leave a comment »

Seller pantera0405 obviously bought these 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives from a fraudulent supplier. The buy it now price is far too low for these to be anything but counterfeit and fake capacity. These will corrupt users’ files after a while. If they were genuine it would be possible to verify the serial numbers (each drive should have an individual one) with Kingston. We are certain Kingston won’t verify these.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Counterfeit Kingston DT200 on ebay UK – this is not 265GB

with 3 comments

Seller lukeluke2236 says in the listing that the supposedly 265GB Kingston flash drives in this listing have been tested. We would like to point out that looking at drive properties is not testing! If lukeluke2236 had tested properly (or even just looked at the Kingston website) this seller would know these are fakes. Fake capacity flash drives corrupt files after a while.

Suspect ebay seller in Israel with fake capacity USB flash drives

We think that ebay member yair_svet may have more than one ID – one used for buying fake flash drives on ebay and the ID yair_svet for re-selling them. We wouldn’t trust this seller as far as we could throw him or her. Undoubtedly this 128GB Kingston and other USB flash drives from this seller will corrupt users’ files.

ebay seller in Canada with obviously fake USB flash drives

The three models of USB flash drive shown above that have been listed for sale by ebay seller underwaterfireman11 in Canada are patently counterfeit and fake capacity.

They will undoubtedly corrupt buyers’ files once the true (probably tiny) capacity is exceeded – though fraudulent programming will no doubt initially fool buyers as they will show on the computer as having the capacity claimed, or something close to it.

More counterfeit Kingston DT200 USB flash drives sold on ebay USA

We wonder what is going on with seller vickp2007. This seller, based in the USA, sold what we are sure are counterfeit 128GB Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drives in December. These were new (see listing above) now the seller has advertised a couple as used (see listing below) – so what happened here? Could it be that buyers returned drives for a refund having found out they were counterfeit and fake capacity?

The picture in this ebay listing looks very familiar to us!!

The picture in this listing by peing for a 16GB USB flash drive looks very familiar to us, as do other pictures used by this seller. This makes us think this ID belongs to a very familar fraud gang that has been operating on ebay for a long time. We expect all flash drives from this seller will be fake capacity and will trash users’ files.
