Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

we think these 16GB USB flash drives on ebay UK are likely to be expensive fakes!

with one comment

We have a feeling that UK ebayer sales-riversidenetworks fell into the trap of buying from a fraudulent supplier as every USB flash drive of this model that we tested that was either the model shown in this seller’s listing or had one of the little shiny stickers shown in the picture proved to be a fake that corrupted files. If only this seller had tested them on arrival with h2testw then they would know the truth about these.

This seller has a very good feedback score so we think we probably have a victim seller here – someone who did not realise they bought from a fraudulent supplier. Hopefully an ebay member will have noticed and warned the seller. If, as we think, this is an honest ebayer then listings will be removed and buyers refunded.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

  1. I see that this seller is now quoting 16 sold, and has offered the last one at £12.50 what a pity I never saw this “bargain” what with his promise to fully refund, I could have proved beyond a shadow of doubt that what he WAS selling were fakes. Now we might never know the truth as obviously feedback has been doctored either by stupidity or by design to be positive.
This seller has all the classic signs of a feedback building power seller, with the usual collection of cheap junk items, pandering to the dumbed down idiot Ipod user market.
What did concern me was the PRIVATE items he brought and sold, some were semi-pro microphones, now forgive me for being suspicious but I cannot see how a microphone needs to be a private item unless it was a disguised sex toy, (or STOLEN) we will never know!
You noticed I said “did” in the past tense, this was intentional as from now on, all records about this seller have been deleted, I’m sure he will be glad I am not “On his tail” any more.
Perhaps someone else will take up the task of watching, since he states he is clearing out stock to make room for “Own Brand designs” and stock, must have a very small warehouse if he has to dump out 16 small fake flash drives to make room for new stock.
I wonder who is going to supply these “Own Brand” items, how much they will cost, I hope its one of the notorious far eastern fraudsters, that will make life interesting for him.
