Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

This 256GB Kingston USB flash drive on ebay is a fake

with one comment

The flash drive pictured in this ebay listing by seller estorestock is not a genuine 265GB Kingston flash drive. It is counterfeit and fake capacity, as seller estorestock would have known had he or she looked at the Kingston website. Kingston only produce one model of flash drive in 256GB capacity and it looks nothing like this. This ebayer refused to beleive an ebay member who warned it was a fake. The seller doesn’t need to take the member’s word for it – just check with Kingston! Fakes like this corrupt files after a while.

UPDATE 18/01/10:
Seller estorestock also sold the obvious fake 128GB USB flash drive shown on the left – if you see flash drives like this on ebay (the classic fake leather and steel type) whether or not they are in this packaging then they will be fake.

ANY flash drive (whatever it looks like and whatever the advertised capacity) that you see in this type of packaging will also be fake!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
