UK ebayer auctions counterfeit 128GB Kingston as faulty

leave a comment »

UK ebay seller happyhilton-2007 obviously bought these 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives from a fraudulent supplier. The seller is mistaken in thinking they are faulty items – they are counterfeit and fake capacity items manufactured by fraudsters. Such USB flash drives inevitably corrupt files.

The seller has the idea that they can be repaired. This is no easy task and even if it succeeds the memory chips are such low quality and of such low capacity (often under 1GB!) that such repair is not worth the bother. Those who have taken the time to “rescue” fakes found themselves with a small capacity and unreliable flash drive that was prone to fail at any time.

Had the seller tested the flash drives on arrival with the free program h2testw the seller might have managed to get a refund from the fraudulent supplier. Anyone contemplating selling flash memory items should do this!
