Another ebay seller in China with counterfeit Kingston DT 200

with 2 comments

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives from ebay seller shibo201088 are counterfeit. A counterfeit flash drive is a fake capacity flash drive and it corrupts files. This ID no doubt belongs to a familiar fraud gang.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

A very dodgy looking listing on ebay Germany

We don’t see how seller phonecase_de could possibly offer a genuine 8GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive free with a prepaid phone card giving 10 euros phone credit for 9.99 euros with free P&P. This just does not add up! We think the flash drives this seller is giving away simply have to be counterfeit and fake capacity. A counterfeit fake capacity flash drive inevitably corrupts files.

mazafaka1984 lists upgraded (fake capacity) flash drive openly on ebay!

Estonian ebay seller mazafaka1984 is perfectly open about the flash drive sold in this listing being fake capacity. The seller says:

Notice:this is upgraded version from 4gb to 128gb, plug the pen stick into the computer ,and it shows 128gb, but real total capacity is 4gb

Of course this means that if anyone uses this flash drive then after a while it corrupts files due to the fake capacity.
