leave a comment »

UK ebay seller samras-2008 has been shopping in fake flash land!! There is no 512GB USB flash drive made by Kingston (or anyone else for that matter) yet. The USB flash drive in this listing is counterfeit, fake capacity and corrupts files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

We suspect this 64GB Kingston flash drive on ebay is counterfeit

We think that ebay seller bjswood (registered in the USA) bought the 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives listed on ebay from one of the fraudulent suppliers who sell counterfeit and fake capacity flash memory items. If we are right this USB flash drive corrupts files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

ebayer clicnbuy09 has another go at selling counterfeit 256GB Kingston flash drives

leave a comment »

Anyone foolish enough to buy the supposedly 256GB Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drives from ebay seller clicnbuy09 will live to regret it. This seller was first reported about on this blog back in October 2009 (just enter the seller ID in search box to see the original post) – we can now tell you without a shadow of a doubt that this ebayer’s 265GB Kingston flash drives are fakes that corrupt files.

It appears that the seller was not very sucessful with the original listing. In fact, back then, we had a member of the fightflashfraud team who reported such listings to Kingston at least twice a week. Kingston then pressurised ebay to remove such fraudulent listings. It is likely that the seller’s original listings were removed as a result of a report, as our member was very efficient at alerting Kingston.

Sadly, this much missed team member is no longer with us due to personal circumstances – we will be delighted if he finds he can return to the fray! We do not have anyone available for this task at the moment – any volunteers??

We have concluded that Kingston’s fraud team seems to be even smaller than our little team of volunteers as we notice that (without our help) they are doing almost nothing about the huge number of counterfeits listed on ebay now.

We digress… the 256GB Kingston flash drives from clicnbuy09 are without doubt counterfeit and fake capacity. A 256GB Kingston USB flash drive from this seller will undoubtedly corrupt files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

8GB Sandisk Cruzer on ebay Germany seems too cheap to be genuine

We think these are too cheap to be genuine 8GB Sandisk Cruzer USB flash drives. We suspect that ebay seller mobilfunkdiscounter24 bought these from one of the wholesale outlets supplying counterfeit and fake capacity flash drives. If we are right then this flash drive is fake capacity and corrupts files.

We at fightflashfraud strongly advise everyone who buys flash memory items that they should always test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Beware of flash drives from UK ebay seller uk-direct, they are fake

leave a comment »

Seller uk-direct continues to sell this obvious fake flash drive which we first warned about on November 7th 2009.

Any USB flash drive you see in this packaging (or with a little capacity sticker like the one in the picture) is fake capacity and corrupts files. Feedback from buyers shows we were right to suspect that the other flash drives from this seller would prove to be fake capacity too. Do not buy from this seller if you value your data!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.
