USA ebayer lists obvious fake 64GB USB flash drives for sale

leave a comment »

The leather and steel type flash drive pictured in this ebay listing from trent55mike has always proved to be fake capacity when tested by members of the fightflashfraud team. We have never come across one of these on ebay that had the advertised capacity. A fake capacity flash drive always corrupts files after a while.

We advise everyone to avoid this model of USB flash drive (whether sold on ebay or elswhere) like the plague. It is a favourite with fraudsters in China who can easily program them to display any old false capacity they like. They then sell these either singly on ebay or wholesale on other web sites. We don’t know where this seller got them, but we are certain they are fake – whether the seller realises this or not.

Fortunately we were wise enough to test the ones we bought with the free program h2testw before we even considered using them – if you bought one of these ANYWHERE – we suggest you do the same!!
