leave a comment »

The buy it now price in this ebay listing from zw0la seems a bit too low which makes us think these 16GB flash drives may have come from a fraudulent wholesale outlet in China. If zw0la did buy these from a fraudulent supplier they will be fake capacity and a fake capacity flash drive corrupts files.

Private ebay auction from seller in Spain for 128GB Kingston

leave a comment »

Why is seller parasito10 using a private auction to sell this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive on ebay? Could it be that this seller is aware that this (ebay item number 260568224802) is fake? The seller shows a screenshot of the drive properties in the listing in an effort to demonstrate that it is genuine.

Such screenshots are totally meaningless – the properties shown are those the drive is programmed to show and have no relationship to the real capacity of flash memory. We are sure that this is a counterfeit fake capacity flash drive that corrupts files.

In the extremely unlikely case that we are wrong then the serial number can be verified with Kingston – we are certain that we already know what Kingston will say!
