dfkjanv lists very obvious fake 128GB USB flash drive on ebay

This is the first time we have come across someone in Japan selling fake flash drives. Fraudulent sellers in Singapore and Hong Kong often claim (falsely) that the fakes they sell are made in Japan but they have never been anywhere near that country. This time we can announce that this fake flash drive is actually being sold by someone (dfkjanv) registered on ebay Japan.

However, it appears that these flash drives (no doubt made in China and certainly nothing to do with Kingston) came via the USA. Apparently dfkjanv bought them from US ebay seller elleyz084, who (it seems from information we received) probably bought them on dhgate.com – a well known site where fraudulent wholesalers peddle their fake flash wares.

Sadly it seems that neither dfkjanv nor elleyz084 checked what is really available from Kingston or thought to test the flash drives with h2testw. Had they done so they would have discovered that these USB flash drives are fake capacity, which corrupts files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
