chicago.dragonext:private ebay auction, suspected fake flash fraudster

with 5 comments

We have a couple of questions for ebay seller chicago.dragonext:

  • Why use a private ebay auction to sell a flash drive? – unless (of course) you are trying to hide the fact that you are selling fakes!
  • Where exactly in Hong Kong is GET IT FAST! ???

What do we think about ebay seller chicago.dragonext? We suspect that this seller may well be a slightly more intelligent fraudster than usual. Of course we may get a big surprise and find that this flash drive is genuine. Somehow, we think not.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

  1. I just got scammed at their web site, dragonext.com.
Bought an advertised item, paid by Paypal, next day I received an email, saying the price was imcorrect, and the order is cancelled. Now they even refuse to refund my payment. 4 emails, and one through contact us on their site.

I have started a dispute on Paypal, will contact Chicago BBB to open a claim, and do all in my power to expose these people.

I know I will get my money back, but I do not need the hasstle of going through all these troubles because of their mistake.

  2. Hi MH

Suggest you do test with h2testw just in case – it’s only when you start trying to open saved files once you have filled the real capacity that problems start if a drive is fake. If your saving homework to it you don’t want to end up losing files! As we said in the post – it’s possible they are genuine but the use of private listings looks very suspect. Seems the seller is not offering flash drives at the moment.

  3. I also bought one from this ebay seller recently, I can tell it is authentic from the packing and stuff like that. I didnt try with your program but I can put like 8 movies and all my homework in (mainly graphics), so I dun think it is fake. Regarding to the shipment time, well, I am from Hong Kong, so I received it in 4-5 days, not exactly fast, but acceptable to me.

  4. The things that made us suspicious about this seller was the use of private listings (so you can’t tell what the feedback is about) and the number of negative comments – buyers obviously aren’t happy about something!

It may indeed be genuine but we’ve usually found that sellers in Hong Kong who use private listings usually turn out to be fraudsters. Suggest you test your drive with h2testw in case our suspicions are founded – you only run into problems with fakes once whatever real capacity they have is full.
