DT 310 flash drives from ebayer jiumatu2010 are not genuine but fake!

leave a comment »

Cheeky fraudster jiumatu2010 (registered on ebay China) emblazons “genuine 256GB” on the picture of the counterfeit (not a real Kingston DT310) and fake capacity model of flash drive being sold in ebay listing number 110543921522 – the genuine capacity of this flash drive will be a lot closer to 256 megabytes (quarter of a gigabyte) than 256 gigabytes! This USB flash drive will corrupt files once the true capacity has been filled with data.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

The 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 300 USB flash drives being sold in this ebay listing by zhouguixin are counterfeit and fake capacity. At this price they simply couldn’t be anything else. Fake flash memory corrupts files once the true capacity (usually 4GB or less) has been filled with files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

UPDATE: This seller has now been suspended by ebay so if you bought from zhouguixin you will find your item has vanished from your won list as ebay removes listings for fakes when they suspend a seller. Get your refund claim in quickly!

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives in this ebay listing from enquiel are too cheap to be anything other than counterfeit and fake capacity. A fake capacity USB flash drive corrupts files.

Return of proven fake flash fraudster cymemory to selling on ebay

leave a comment »

We were aware of fraudulent ebay seller cymemory before this blog was ever started (on 24th November 2008) and there is evidence about this fraudster selling fake capacity flash drives which was published elsewhere on the Internet about a month before we started this blog.

This fraudster vanished off ebay in November 2009, a few days after we published an article reporting our suspicions about the memory cards from the seller being fake too. Now this seller is back selling USB flash drives (models that are proven fakes), the same SD cards we wrote about in November 2009 and MP players.

Do not buy any flash memory items from this proven fraudster!! The feedback does not reflect the truth about this seller as few people (especially before this seller vanished off ebay when fewer people were aware there was such a thing as fake memory) actually test flash memory items properly before leaving feedback.

If you were unlucky enough to buy from cymemory before coming across this post then test the item with h2testw to find out what the real capacity is. We are certain that you will find that your USB flash drive, memory card or MP card will have a fake capacity, which corrupts files once the true capacity of the memory has been filled.

If (or rather when) your item fails testing with h2testw leave cymemory a negative – this serves two functions: warns other ebayers and leads to ebay suspending fraudsters if there are enough complaints. We’d suggest you include the following; so that other victims find this post:

Google: fightflashfraud cymemory

Report the seller’s other listings for the same item to ebay.

Open an ebay/paypal dispute and claim a refund. Do not give into any bribery or threats from the seller if cymemory tries to get you to remove the neg.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

128GB flash drive listed on ebay by agaia10 is sure to corrupt files

The model of flash drive in this ebay listing from agaia10 has always proved to be fake capacity, which corrupts files, when tested by members of the fightflashfraud team. The buy it now price in the listing is below the cost of manufacturing a 128GB flash drive – which goes to show that these will not have a capacity anywhere near 128GB. Seller agaia10 obviously got them from a fraudulent supplier.#

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

The USB flash drive in this ebay listing from newly registered seller zengmin66110 is fake capacity and corrupts files – it is impossible to sell a genuine 64GB USB flash drive at this price.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.
