128GB DT200 flash drive from ebayer merima2001_de likely to be fake

leave a comment »

We have a feeling that this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drive from ebay seller merima2001_de will turn out to be counterfeit and fake capacity, and fake capacity flash memory corrupts files. If we are wrong then the buyer will be able to verify that the flash drive is genuine with Kingston by giving the serial number.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

What ebayer bernie0013 bought from a supplier in China are fake 64GB USB flash drives. This flash drive is fake capacity and corrupts files – anyone familiar with fake flash drives will spot instantly why the flash drive pictured in this ebay listing (item number 110546159594) is a fake.

For those of you not familiar with fake flash memory items, but with some intelligence, ebay item number 110501460166 (for which bernie0013 refunded the buyer) provides a clue about what is going on here:

So what do we think of the statement by bernie0013 in ebay listing number 110546159594 in which an “explanation” about these flash drives is given? Well here is the statement – judge for yourself what we think – we have given a visual clue!

“We had these made by a Chinese Manufacturer so we could label them with our company logo. we have quite a few left and we have decided to sell them off.”

For those of you familiar with visual comments the image on the right says it all! We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

sohada4858 selling fake Kingston USB flash drives on ebay

As well as this very obvious fake 256GB Kingston USB flash drive (Kingston does not sell anything that looks like this) ebay seller sohada4858 has listed 64GB and 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives at prices too low for them to be genuine. This and all other Kingston USB flash drives from sohada4858 are counterfeit and fake capacity, which corrupts files. This seller is registered in Japan but lists this fake as located in the USA.

Beware: xiatianyishuang is another fake flash fraudster on ebay

Here we have another fraudulent ebay listing from a new ID registered in China. Seller xiatianyishuang is (like almost all the fraudulent ID’s registered on ebay China) selling this USB flash drive at a price that would be impossible if the item was genuine. Are ebay asleep at the wheel or is it that they don’t care about the massive ammount of fraud on their site?

They say they protect buyers, but we don’t see much sign of ebay buyer protection. This USB flash drive is certain to be counterfeit and fake capacity and we can state without much shadow of doubt that it corrupts files once the true capacity (no doubt less than 4GB) has been filled with files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

You simply cannot buy genuine flash drives above 8GB in capacity for the price in this ebay listing from neaseppo8. These are counterfeit 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drives with a fake capacity – and a fake capacity flash drive corrupts files.

mengzhonghudie (a new ebay fake flash fraudster in China) is suspended

De-registered ebay fraudster mengzhonghudie is not the smartest of crooks – using Chinese characters in front of the word Ireland is something of a giveaway that the item is in fact in China rather than Ireland. This seller seems to have been suspended by ebay so this listing will have vanished.

The USB flash drive in this listing is as false as the item location. The real capacity of this flash drive will be a lot closer to 4GB than 64GB, though the device will be programmed to display the capacity as 64GB. This fake capacity USB flash drive corrupts files.
