The supposed 256GB USB flash drives in this ebay listing from benimkizi are not, as the seller supposes, faulty but deliberately created fakes which have a lot less real memory than advertised. They were programmed by fraudsters in China to display a fake capacity to the operating system.

It is this fraudulent programming that leads to problems like files vanishing and being corrupted once the true capacity of the flash chip is reached. Do not buy flash drives on ebay listed as faulty – they will trash your data.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
