jaelectronicservice lists counterfeit DT200 flash drives on ebay

Seller jaelectronicservice obviously bought the supposedly 32GB and 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives listed on ebay from a fraudulent supplier. The USB flash drive in this ebay listing is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files.

if 128GB DT200 on ebay is genuine, notarylesa is likely to make a loss

leave a comment »

If this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drive listed on ebay by notarylesa is genuine then the seller is likely to make a loss by auctioning it. We have our doubts and think it could well be another fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. If it is in fact genuine then the buyer will be able to verify the serial number with Kingston.

If this 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drive listed on ebay by gogs0034 is genuine then someone may get a bargain. On the other hand it may be yet another fake capacity counterfeit which corrupts files. If it is genuine then the buyer will be able to verify the serial number with Kingston. Beware: ebayer new-999 sells fake flash drives which corrupt files

leave a comment »

Although the picture in this ebay listing from new-999 we could still see the name Sony on this USB flash drive. Sony do not sell anything remotely like this. What you are looking at is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. As this flash drive is an obvious fake we expect all flash drives from this seller will be fakes.

128GB flash drive sold on ebay by blairholdings sure to be fake

leave a comment »

The 128GB flash drive sold by blairholdings in this ebay listing is certain to be fake capacity, which corrupts files. We have never yet come across one of these leather and metal type flash drives that had a real capacity of over 4GB though they have been sold as every conceivable capacity. They have always appeared to have the advertised capacity when you look at the drive properties – but this has always be due to fraudulent programming of the drive’s control chip.

DT200 flash drives in ebay auctions by slawek118 may be fakes

leave a comment »

We think the 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives being auctioned on ebay by slawek118 are likely to have come from a fraudulent supplier. If we are wrong then buyers will be able to verify the serial numbers of their drives with Kingston. If we are right then what buyers will end up with is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files.

If they are counterfeits then the most they are likely to be able to store before files become lost and corrupted is likely to be just under 4GB. Do not be fooled by what the operating system shows when you plug a flash drive into a computer. The capacity shown is whatever the control chip has been programmed to show and fraudsters program them to show a false capacity.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

UPDATE 07/07/2010

cuthbert2k7 still merrily selling fake flash drives on ebay as faulty

leave a comment »

This 64GB Kingston DataTraveler listed on ebay by cuthbert2k7 as faulty is no such thing – it is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files, no doubt purchased from fraudulent supplier in China. Kind seller cuthbert2k7 has decided to offload the rubbish bought from fraudsters in China on ebayers who are foolish enough or greedy enough to think they will somehow get a bargain. All they will get is a useless bit of junk.

DT200 flash drive from ebayer tickets–source could be a fake

leave a comment »

Seller tickets–source says in this ebay listing:

OPENED TO TEST AS PER EVERYONE’S REQUEST AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

However we wonder what the seller did to test the flash drive. If it was simply to look at the drive properties and perhaps save a few files to it then this does not constitute testing the flash drive properly. The flash drive could be a fake capacity counterfeit which corrupts files if this is all that tickets–source did.

Test flash memory items from ebay seller jasdow2002 with h2testw

leave a comment »

We advise anyone who buys a USB flash drive or MP player from ebay seller jasdow2002 with h2testw. It looks as though items from this seller are shipped from China. Most flash memory items shipped from China are fakes so there is a strong possibility that the 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives in this ebay listing will be fake capacity counterfeits and the MP players from this seller could well be fakes too.

32GB flash drive from ebayer matt_swarbrick should be destroyed

leave a comment »

Seller matt_swarbrick has listed this flash drive as for parts not working. It is not working because it is a notorious fake capacity flash drive which corrupts files. The seller says:

USB flash drive with 32GB capacity

The flash drive does work and will write and read files to the usb stick. There are comparison errors every now and then which causes some data to corrupt, e.g photos. However if the file is simply rewritten the usb stick it will work.

Hence being sold as for parts or not working.

Enjoy Bidding.

Can not offer refunds or returns.

Payment via paypal only and postage to UK only.

Had this seller tested the drive with h2testw he would have found that it’s real capacity is nowhere near 32GB – which is why there is a problem with it. Anyone who buys one of these might as well flush their money down the nearest toilet.

If DT310 flash drive sold on ebay by demasrolin is genuine seller made a loss

leave a comment »

If the 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drive sold on ebay by demasrolin is genuine this seller made a loss on the transaction. Genuine DataTraveler flash drives have individual serial numbers which can be used to verify with Kingston that the drive is genuine. If Kingston cannot verify this flash drive then it is certain to be a fake capacity flash drive which corrupts files.

UPDATE 06/07/2010

Is DT310 flash drive from ebayer vivasiimre genuine? Doubtful.

leave a comment »

Even with the large charge for postage (a breach of ebay policies as it constitutes fee evasion) it is likely that seller vivasiimre will make a loss if the 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drive in this ebay listing is genuine. A genuine DT310 has an individual serial number that can be used to confirm the drive is genuine with Kingston. We suspect this one probably isn’t and a counterfeit flash drive is always fake capacity and corrupts files.

64GB leather type flash drive from ebayer croydon86 will trash files

leave a comment »

Anyone who buys this leather and metal style flash drive on ebay from croydon86 (or anyone else for that matter) is almost certain to find that once they have saved just under 4GB of files (perhaps less) their files will start to be lost and corrupted. This model of flash drive has always proved to be fake capacity.
