Fake flash fraudster winkeban suspended by ebay

leave a comment »

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives in this ebay listing from winkeban were far too cheap for these to be anything but counterfeits. The buy it now price is nowhere near enough to cover the costs of manufacturing the flash memory chips to make a 128GB flash drive!!

What anyone who bought before ebay suspended winkeban will get is a fake capacity counterfeit flash drive that corrupts files once the real capacity (4GB or less probably) is full. Do not be fooled by what the operating system shows – this is due to fraudulent programming of the drive.

ebay suspends ghhtarad and removes listing for fake Kingston

leave a comment »

Seller ghhtarad is another suspended ebay fake flash fraudster from China – the 64GB Kingston 150 USB flash drives (a discontinued model) in this listing were too cheap to be genuine. This is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. If you bought one of these you will find the item has vanished from your won list as ebay removes listings for counterfeits when they suspend a seller.

It is fairly likely that buyers will find that the item vanished from their won list before they see this post. Seems ebay is being a bit more pro-active about suspending fraudsters – about time after years of fraud on their site. However, paypal (owned by ebay) is still messing frauded buyers around and asking them to jump through ludicrous (and sometimes illegal) hoops to get a refund.

Don’t put up with it. Make ebay do something about it – get on the phone to their customer service folk and pursue your complaint up the chain of command until you get a result.

lvrui2710 lists counterfeit Kingston DT200 drives on ebay as faulty

leave a comment »

The 120 Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives in this ebay listing from lvrui2710 are not faulty – they are deliberately created fake capacity counterfeits which will corrupt users’ files. Looks like sellers in China are now taking a leaf out of the books of ebay sellers in Europe, America and elsewhere and listing fakes as faulty. The real capacity of these flash drives will be no more than 4GB.

Take our advice – do not buy flash drives listed on ebay as faulty – you are just going to get a bit of cra4p, so you might as well flush your money down the toilet! You would be much better buying a genuine 4GB flash drive, which you should be able to buy for around this price, elsewhere!

UPDATE 17/07/2010
This seller has now been suspended by ebay.

organicsolutions352 auctions 128GB DT200 on ebay. Is it fake?

leave a comment »

Seller organicsolutions352 is auctioning this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive on ebay. If it is genuine then the seller risks making a loss by auctioning it. We wonder – is this yet another fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files?

If the drive is genuine the buyer will be able to confirm this by verifiying the serial number with Kingston. If Kingston cannot verify the drive then it will be yet another fake that trashes files – usually once just under 4GB of data has been saved to it.
