Beware: 128GB leather & metal flash drives from ebayer jjworld*23 are fakes

leave a comment »

Seller jjworld*23 is part of a devious fraud gang selling fake flash drives on ebay. This 128GB leather and metal flash drive sold by jjworld*23 is a notorious fake capacity model which corrupts files. It usually has a real capacity of less than 2GB and has never been found to be more than 4GB. Buyers should not be fooled by what is shown by the operating system – this is due to fraudulent programming of the flash drive’s control chip.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

ebay alert! beware 128GB flash drives fromhigh_quality030 fake!!

leave a comment »

Seller high_quality030 is part of a devious ebay fraud gang based in Singapore and the supposedly 128GB flash drive sold in this ebay listing is fake capacity and corrupts files. It will not store anywhere near the advertised 128GB advertised. This USB flash drive is unlikely to store as much as 4GB before all files start to be lost and corrupted.

This 256GB Kingston Datatraveler 200 is a fake capacity counterfeit flash drive which corrupts files – as Axel says this model simply doesn’t exist other than as a fake. This seller also listed the 128GB model which does exist but as this seller obviously bought from a fraudulent supplier this will also be fake. No doubt the memory cards listed by this seller are fakes too.

very dodgy looking ebay listing for 128GB flash drive by wirerauss

leave a comment »

We considered this ebay listing from wirerauss to be extremely suspect – it looks as though the seller wasn’t getting anywhere with this (even once a picture showning the 128GB DT200 was added) and apparently ended the listing early.

Newer listings (item numbers 110557984633, 110557984889 and 110557984962) all show the 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 but buyers are warned in listings not to beleive their eyes – the seller says:

Up for bidding is a generic usb flash drive. It is brand new, never been used.

PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING PURCHASE:

-BUYERS PURCHASE AT THEIR OWN RISK!

-Selling as is, no returns.

-These are generic usb flash drives, regardless of any indications that may state otherwise.

-the usb flashdrive MAY hold up to 128gb. There is no guarantee regardless of any indication on the package.

The odds of the flash drives being auctioned by wirerauss corrupting files is 99.99% – in other words the flash drives are fake capacity counterfeits which will undoubtedly corrupt users’ files and it seems that seller wirerauss knows it!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

ebay alert: zhihui_yang011279 is another fake flash fraudster

leave a comment »

The listing above for counterfeit fake capacity 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drives seems to have vanished. It was probably removed by ebay. If you were unlucky enough to have bought from this seller without realising that it is impossible for these to be genuine and have not yet paid – then don’t! It cost a lot more than the buy it now price in this listing to MANUFACTURE a 128GB flash drive.

UPDATE 13/07/2010
It seems that ebay, having removed this fraudulent listing already, has now suspended zhihui_yang011279.

Seems that ebay may finally be taking fake flash fraud on their site a bit more seriously – however (as we have seen that people have been searching for information about this seller) we do wonder whether they are actually telling buyers anything?? Or is the recent increase in removing fraudulent listings and suspending sellers just a more efficient cover-up job??

256GB DT300 from ebayer justsellingabit seems a little cheap

leave a comment »

The buy it now price for a 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 300 flash drive in this ebay listing by justsellingabit seems a little low which makes us wonder whether it is genuine or not. If it is genuine then the buyer will be able to check this by verifying the serial number with Kingston. If the serial number cannot be verified then it will be a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files.

128GB DT200 listed in ebay ebay by speederkan likely counterfeit

We think it is highly unlikely that this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive listed at auction on ebay by speederkan is genuine. We have a feeling that it will turn out to be yet another fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. In the unlikely event that we are wrong the buyer will be able to verify the serial number with Kingston.

If this 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drive is genuine then ebayer nick75irl risks making a loss by auctioning it. 128GB Kingston flash drive from ebayer inkotech sure to be fake

leave a comment »

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives in this ebay listing from inkotech are too cheap to be genuine. They simply have to be fake capacity counterfeits purchased from one of the fraudulent wholesale outlets in China. A fake capacity flash drive corrupts files.
