64GB DT200 flash drives sold by ebayer alt165 probably counterfeit

If the 64GB Kingston DT200 flash drives sold at auction by ebay member alt165 are genuine then this seller made a loss on the two sold so far. This does not seem to have deterred this seller from continuing with an auction ending on 18th July (ebay item number 230498660674) – would you want to carry on selling something that makes a loss on every sale? Nobody here would!!

We suspect that the 64GB DataTraveler in this and other ebay listings from alt165 will turn out to be fake capacity counterfeits. A fake capacity flash drive corrupts files. In the unlikely event that we are wrong buyers will be able to confirm that their flash drive is genuine by verifiying the serial number with Kingston.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
