ebayers make guerilla attack on seller of fake Kingston flash drives?

leave a comment »

It is perfectly obvious to anyone with the slightest idea about the cost of flash memory that the 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives in this ebay listing (item number 260635138236) are fake capacity counterfeits – at this price they simply couldn’t be anything else.

The seller had a feedback score of -3 after 5 negative comments were left by 3 ebayers and no positives. This looked like guerilla action by ebayers against sellers of fake flash items on ebay to us. Understandable – everyone is heartily sick of all the fake flash items sold on ebay.

In this instance it looks as though the seller foolishly entered into a dropshipping arrangement with a fraudulent supplier in China. Sellers who fall into this trap sometimes have no idea they are selling fakes. Four of the five negatives were subsequently removed by ebay and the seller now has two negatives, and one positive. Why did ebay remove the negs instead of the listing, which is obviously for counterfeit flash drives?

If ordinary ebayers realise these are counterfeit why is it that ebay is so slow to act in removing such listings – or better still preventing them in the first place? Do they have more difficulty in spotting obvious fakes than the rest of us?? Don’t they realise how dangerous fake capacity flash memory items are?

A fake capacity flash drive, memory card or whatever corrupts files after a while – thousands of people have lost irreplacable things (family videos or photos, vital work files, college assignments etc) by using fake flash memory.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
