Suspect 64GB USB flash drive in ebay auction from plasmus10

leave a comment »

We have a feeling that this 64GB USB flash drive listed at auction on ebay by plasmus10 is fake capacity and corrupts files. The picture holds the clue as to why we are suspicious about this flash drive – we see something here that we have only ever come across on fakes; a shiny little capacity sticker.

This is the second seller we have seen listing 64GB Plasmus flash drives – the name Plasmus is, in itself, suspect!!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

UPDATE 16/08/2010
We noticed the listing below from plasmus10 for a 64GB Sandisk flash drive – we are pretty sure that this model is only made in capacities up to 32GB, so we think this is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. If all the flash memory items from this seller came from the same supplier we think the memory cards from plasmus10 will also be fakes that corrupt files.
