beware: leather flash drives on ebay from hatyy2010 are fakes

leave a comment »

Here we have yet another ebay listing from China for the notorious leather and steel flash drive – always fake capacity, always corrupts files after a while. The flash drives from hatyy2010 will work for a while (probably until you have saved around 2GB of files) then things will start to be lost and corrupted. Why? because these flash drives are programmed to show a fake capacity to the operating system and once the real capacity is full there is nowhere for files to go.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

128GB DT200 in ebay auction from tradeitems2010 probable fake

leave a comment »

We think it extremely unlikely that this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive (item number 230505492059) listed at auction on ebay by tradeitems2010 is genuine. We think it will turn out to be yet another fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. If we are mistaken and the flash drive is genuine the buyer will be able to confirm this by verifying the serial number with Kingston.

Are 64GB flash drives on ebay from 1970cortina genuine?

Seller 1970cortina tells us in this ebay listing for 64GB USB flash drives:

You are bidding for a Brand New, 64GB usb (2.0) flash drive.
Metal Lipstick case
This is an actual 64GB, DOS formatted, ensuring that it is an actual 64 GB.
All drives have been fomatted to “exFAT”
You can plug and use in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Windows XP requires a drive from the Microsoft Website.

That sounds a bit strange to us.

If this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler USB flash drive is genuine then seller bradders908 risks making a loss by listing it at auction on ebay. Private ebay listing for notorious fake flash drives from mixiuxia

leave a comment »

The supposedly 64GB leather and steel model of flash drive in this private listing from mixiuxia is notorious for being a fake that corrupts files. As with all fake capacity flash drives this will appear to be 64GB when you look at the drive properties but this is due to fraudulent programming of the control chip.

The operating system simply displays the capacity reported by this chip, so you cannot rely on this when trying to determine the true capacity of a drive. Only proper testing of the drive will discover the real capacity. The real capacity of this drive is unlikely to be more than 2GB, and will certainly be no more than 4GB. Once the real capacity is full files begin to vanish and become corrupted because there is nowhere left for them to go.

ebayer pootangpurple reselling fake flash drive bought from digitsonic?

leave a comment »

It appears that ebayer pootangpurple bought this fake capacity flash drive that corrupts files from suspended ebay fake flashfraudster digitsonic back in June. Didn’t pootangpurple wonder why digitsonic is no longer a registered user? Didn’t pootangpurple think of checking whether the drive really has a capacity of 32GB? Or is this just another case of an ebayer offloading a fake on someone else??

Any ebayer who resells a fake bought on ebay is likely to find themselves written about here!!
