128GB Kingston flash drives from ebay seller fauspowers likely fakes

leave a comment »

We are fairly sure that the 128GB Kingston DataTraveler flash drives listed on ebay by seller fauspowers are fake capacity counterfeits purchased from a fraudulent supplier. In the (unlikely) event that we are mistaken buyers will be able to confirm that their flash drive is genuine by verifying the serial number with Kingston. If Kingston do not verify the drive then it will be a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

UPDATE 14/08/2010
We notice this seller is also auctioning the notorious leather and steel type of flash drives that are always fake capacity – and a fake capacity flash drive always corrupts files. This seller definately used a fraudulent supplier if these are being sold – so all flash memory items are sure to be fakes that corrupt files.

ebay suspends csbzykd for selling counterfeit DT 200 flash drives

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives in this ebay listing from csbzykd are fake capacity counterfeits. A fake capacity flash drive corrupts files – as anyone who bought from csbzykd before this seller was suspended by ebay (and actually receives one of these) will discover.

Please ensure that you get a refund and destroy the flash drive you received if you bought from this seller. If (like some selfish ebayers) you try to re-sell a fake then you are likely to appear either here or on one of the other blogs!!

flash drives sold on ebay by mienmeory are fakes that corrupt files

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives sold on ebay in this listing are fake capacity counterfeits that corrupt files. It is very likely that if you bought from this seller you will find that the item has vanished from your won list as ebay is removing fraudulent listings like this much faster than we have seen in the three years since we became aware of the fake flash memory problem.

Sadly ebay still does not seem to have managed to understand how to prevent such listings in the first place, despite having been told. It’s actually quite simple. Unfortunately ebay has either been too profit hungry or lacks the sense to have taken this issue seriously enough for years.

Ebay members have warned ebay for years about fake flash memory and tried their best to help ebay with this issue in the past, to no avail. Such ebayers have wondered at times what the average IQ of ebay employees (and their bosses) actually is.

Eventually everyone got fed up of trying to communicate with ebay and started setting up blogs, websites, forums and doing whatever else they could think of to try to put a stop to fake flash fraud on ebay.

Those who have written (or contributed to) articles on wordpress blogs about fake flash memory on ebay over the years have all been ebayers who either bought fake flash on ebay or made the mistake of buying flash memory items from fraudulent suppliers to sell on ebay. We know what we are talking about.

COME ON EBAY – go the extra mile and stop fake flash fraud on your site altogether!

Quick suspension of fake flash fraudster qiongmei_xue201 by ebay

leave a comment »

Seller qiongmei_xue201 was quickly supended by ebay for listing this fake capacity counterfeit 256GB DT 310 flash drive and 128GB DT200 and both listings have been removed (ebay item 270615658918 and ebay item 270615658377). It seems that ebay is at least removing many of the most obvious fraudulent listings for Kingston flash drives much more quickly now than we have ever seen before.

Here are a few other fake flash sellers recently suspended by ebay, some of whom we have already posted about (enter seller ID in search box) while others vanished before we managed to write about them:

xfxcfx110 listed counterfeit 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives
mdsjhut815 listed fake Sony Vaio flash drives (all Sony Vaio flash drives are fake!)
xdfxcv2010 very nasty listing that could have led to even more fake flash on ebay!
xcfasdf2010 listed counterfeit 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drives
ghyhgb2010 listed counterfeit 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives

It seems that ebay is being a lot more pro-active in removing obvious fake flash listings and suspending sellers where the seller has little or no feedback – however they could do a lot better than this if they put some thought into it. They could actually prevent most fake flash memory items being listed on ebay in the first place with a bit more effort.

Let’s hope we can look forward to the blogs about fake flash on ebay becoming redundant because we finally get what we all want – an ebay free of fake and counterfeit flash memory items that corrupt people’s files. Those of us in the blogosphere can then stop wearing our fingers to the bone and return to normal life!

xuanze518 suspended by ebay for listing fake 128GB DT200

leave a comment »

Seller xuanze518 had a number of ebay auctions for the 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive with a start price of $19.00 and free shipping. No one could take the risk of making massive losses by finding that they sold every single one at below manufacturing price (let alone wholesale price) by listing with such a low auction start price. Seller xuanze518 was suspended by ebay and these listings have been removed.

A warning to ebay sellers:
If you plan to sell Kingston flash drives (or indeed any flash memory at all) on ebay, make sure they are genuine otherwise you are likely to find your listings removed and your account suspended as ebay is now actively removing listings for counterfeits. They are also removing generic fakes more regularly, so if you don’t fancy being kicked off ebay make sure you are not selling fakes.
