Is 256GB Kingston DT310 in ebay auction from pyar5601 genuine?

leave a comment »

Seller pyar5601 seems convinced that this 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 210 flash drive is genuine. We are not. If this is genuine then it would have cost this seller a whole lot more than the start price to purchase this – even if the seller bought a wholesale quantity.

We have a feeling that this USB flash drive will turn out to be yet another fake capacity counterfeit. If we are mistaken then the buyer will be able to confirm that this flash drive is genuine by verifying the serial number with Kingston.

fake 128GB USB flash drive in ebay auction from vegita10467

leave a comment »

Any flash drive you see in the packaging shown in this ebay auction from vegita10467 is certain to be fake capacity, which corrupts files. Every single flash drive we tested that came in this packaging was a fake and we have been advised that it is not in fact technically possible at present to make a swivel type flash drive of 128GB capacity as there is not enough space for the flash memory required. This seller obviously bought these from a fraudulent supplier.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased. This is particularly important if you are an ebay seller – otherwise your customers run the risk of data loss and corruption and you risk being suspended by ebay for selling fakes.

Is 128GB DT200 flash drive sold on ebay by shahvrushabh genuine?

leave a comment »

The price fetched at auction for this Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive was (as usual for auctions) a bit on the low side. This doesn’t seem to have put seller shahvrushabh off using auctions to sell these which makes us wonder whether they are genuine or not.

If they are genuine buyers will be able to confirm this by verifying the serial numbers with Kingston. If Kingston cannot verify the serial number then the flash drive is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files.

fake flash seller yanjiangzheng27 sells fake Sony in private ebay listing

leave a comment »

Anyone who bought the supposedly 64GB flash drive in this private ebay listing from yanjiangzheng27 landed themselves a fake capacity counterfeit USB flash drive that corrupts files. Why is it counterfeit? Because (although not mentioned in the listing) the flash drive in the picture is marked with the name Sony. Sony has absolutely no connection with these flash drives and it is a criminal offence to sell an item bearing a brand name such as Sony or Kingston if it is not sold by that company. This is a form of fraud normally called counterfeiting.

Selling items that are not as described is also a form of fraud. This flash drive is advertised as having a capacity of 64GB. We are certain that anyone who tests one of these with h2testw will find that the capacity is a lot less than 64GB. The real capacity is unlikely to be as much as 4GB. Therefore the item is not as described, so we consider this listing fraudulent on another count.

Anyone aware of the true cost of flash memory would know that you are extremely unlikely to be able to buy a genuine flash drive above 8GB capacity for £14.99 ANYWHERE. If you bought one of these you landed yourself with a fake capacity USB flash drive that corrupts files and a big fight to get a refund!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

UPDATE 08/08/2010
Unsurprisingly it seems that ebay has suspended yanjiangzheng27 – so if you bought from this seller your item will have vanished from your won list and you will probably have a big fight ahead to get your money back from this fraudster or ebay/paypal. Despite their claims of buyer protection ebay and paypal seem to do all they can to avoid refunding defrauded buyers.
