fake 32GB Kingston flash drives in ebay auctions from mahenaw

with 4 comments

If the Kingston flash drive in this ebay listing from mahenaw was genuine it would be a 4GB flash drive not a 32GB one! However, it is not genuine but a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. The seller had two of these in auctions when we captured this listing plus a number of other flash drives which may also be fakes.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

UPDATE 31/08/2010
Seller mahenaw is still merrily selling fake capacity flash drives – including job lots of the notorious leather and steel model.

UPATE 04/09/2010
This seller has been suspended – looks like this was due to guerrila activity rather than ebay vigilance!

  3. Hi Project Manager,

We were aware that this “muppet” was selling more than one type of fake flash drive, but we generally just show one listing in articles because we’d soon run out of storage space for images on the server otherwise!
