muggnmouse lists fake 256GB Sony flash drive on ebay

leave a comment »

Seller muggnmouse says in this ebay listing:

This is a LIKE NEW,256gb USB THUMB DRIVE. I have personally checked the capacity of the thumb drive and filled it to 220gb. I figured that was far enough to ensure its capacity. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! VERY RARE!!!!! Only other i can compare to is a GENUINE Kingston d310 data traveler. As you know there are alot of fake drives going around. I can assure you this one is 100% Authentic. I will have NO RESERVE set on this item but it will be far cheaper then the competitors. This product also has no moving objects internally which means it does not malfunction or lock up. Please bid with confidence.

Oh really? Is that so?
Well that’s very strange, seeing that Sony do not sell any 256GB flash drives! This is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files – you can be confident that it will trash most of which you save to it!

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives listed on ebay by joejaouad seem a bit on the cheap side so we suspect they may have come from a fraudulent wholesale outlet. Buyers can check whether or not they are genuine by verifying the serial number with Kingston. If the serial number cannot be verified then the USB flash drive is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files.

32GB flash drives listed on ebay by fabric39 sure to corrupt files.

leave a comment »

We are sure that these 32GB flash drives listed on ebay by fabric39 came from a fraudulent supplier. Many ebay sellers fall into the trap of buying fake capacity flash drives from fraudulent wholesale outlets in China. We are certain this will prove to be the case here and that anyone buying one of these will discover that it corrupts their files after a while. The real capacity is likely to be 4GB or less and once that has been filled files will start to be lost and corrupted.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you (or far worse, your customers) run the risk of data loss and corruption.

fake 64GB Sony USB flash drives sold on ebay by tanjinyu2010

leave a comment »

The flash drives in this ebay listing from tanjinyu2010 may be marked Sony but they have nothing to do with Sony and do not really have a capacity of 64GB – though that is what will be reported when you plug one into a computer. This is because these fake capacity flash drives are programmed to show a false capacity. Anyone who bought one of these will find it corrupts their files once the real capacity has been filled. The item location is as fake as the flash drive – the seller and the flash drives are in China not the USA.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

256GB Kingston DT310 listed on ebay by mbarib20 are too cheap

leave a comment »

The buy it now price in this ebay listing from mbarib20 is too low for these 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drives to be genuine. This seller obviously made the mistake of buying fake capacity counterfeits from a fraudulent wholesale outlet. Anyone buying one of these fakes will find that their USB flash drive corrupts files once the real capacity (probably a lot closer to 256 megabytes than to 256 gigabytes) has been filled.

128GB flash drive listed on ebay by joyia55 will corrupt files.

leave a comment »

This flash drive listed on ebay by joyia55 is fake capacity and corrupts files. These are manufactured by fraudsters in China. This seller obviously bought from a fraudulent supplier. How do we know it is fake? Two very obvious pointers:

  1. There is no such thing as a Sony Vaio flash drive – invented by fraudsters!
  2. The leather and steel type of flash drive has never been found to have a real capacity over 4GB.

Never buy a flash drive if either it is the leather and steel type or shows the Sony Vaio name – you are certain to get a fake that trashes your files after a while.

256GB DT310 flash drive on ebay from rapidselluk* too cheap

with 2 comments

We think this 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drive listed on ebay by rapidselluk* is pretty certain to be a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. The price it too low for it to be genuine. Kingston DT310 flash drives have serial numbers that can be verified with Kingston to ensure the drive is genuine. We don’t think Kingston will be able to verify that this flash drive is genuine.

yallstock lists notorious leather and steel flash drives on ebay

Seller yallstock appears to have a drop-shipping arrangement with a fraudulent supplier in China as these notorious leather and steel flash drives are located in Hong Kong. This model of flash drive always corrupts files once the real capacity (always 4GB or less) has been filled.

The computer will show the advertised capacity when the drive is plugged into the computer – but this is simply due to the control chip being programmed to display a false capacity. We advise ebay sellers never to enter into drop-shipping arrangements for flash memory items as you are pretty certain to find yourself selling fake capacity flash memory that corrupts files.
