Seller nmor6181 says in this ebay listing:

This item is brand new but I have misplaced the box. As you can see the computer shows 255GB of storage capacity. I’m not really good with computers, so I don’t know if if is the real deal. I tried saving a couple of video clips on it and had no problem. It saved and read them perfectly. This item is sold AS-IS and no returns are accepted. I do not guarantee this item in any way. I will ship the item within 2 days of receiving payment. I will ship via USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days).

Well, nmor6181 may not know whether it is the real deal or not – but we do! This USB flash drive is a fake capacity counterfeit and if anyone buys this they will find that it corrupts their files. If it was a genuine Kingston it would, like all genuine Kingston flash drives, (even the tiny 512 megabyte ones from years ago that a member of the team uses regularly) have engraving on the USB connector giving details of the drive such as model and capacity.

As can be seen from zooming in on the seller’s picture (see below) this flash drive has no engraving:

No engraving on the USB connector of a Kingston flash drive means it is counterfeit and counterfeit flash drives never have the advertised capacity so any counterfeit flash drive corrupts files once the real (usually under 4GB) capacity has been filled.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
