We wouldn’t touch a “used” Kingston flash drive from ebay seller omar1779 with a barge pole – we suspect what buyers will get is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. Do we think this seller is commiting deliberate fraud in listings for used Kingston flash drives? We leave you to draw your own conclusions. The seller says in this ebay listing:

Up for auction is for a used Kingston 64GB DataTraveler 200 USB 2.0.

THE FLASHDRIVE HAS BEEN FORMATTED AND TESTED, IT WORKS PERFECTLY. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE SOME OF THEM HAVE MARKINGS BUT OTHER THAN THE COSMETIC FLAWS THE DRIVES HAVE BEEN FULLY TESTED AND THEY WORK SEEMLESSLY. 100% FEEDBACK SO BID WITH CONFIDENCE. THE REASON THEY ARE TESTED IS CAUSE I DONT ACCEPT RETURNS CAUSE SOME HAVE TRIED TO RETURN THEIR PERSONAL DAMAGED FLASH DRIVES TO GET FULL REFUNDS

The photo in this listing from omar1779 is absolutely appaling – is this deliberate? We found a very interesting picture in a listing for a “used” 16GB USB flash drive from this seller. Looks to us as though someone (now who would that be?) made a very clumsy attempt to disguise some of these flash drives and gave up! Here’s what we are talking about:

We’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions about seller omar1779, but the words pants and fire spring to mind!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
