Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

yikang123 lists fake 64GB Sony flash drives on ebay

The Sony flash drives in this and other ebay listings from yikang123 are fakes and anyone who buys one of these fake capacity USB flash drives will find it corrupts their files. There is no such thing as a genuine Sony Vaio flash drive – they are all fakes manufactured by fraudsters in China.

Seller yikang123 obviously made the common mistake of buying from a fraudulent supplier without researching the subject of flash memory items properly. If the 32GB Apple Ipod Nano recorders/players from this seller came from the same seller they will be fakes too.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you (or worse still, your customers) run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

UPDATE 26/10/10:

Now here’s an interesting thing – pictures in listings for these fake USB flash drives from yikang123 have been changed so that they look like the one on the left.

Rather looks as though the seller has placed the cap on top of the drive body to hide the Sony name, does it not? Seems this seller may be aware he or she is selling fakes.
