Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

256GB Kingston DT310 flash drive from thiznthat2010 not genuine

with one comment

Seller thiznthat2010 says in this ebay auction (item number 150534130728):

DataTraveler 310 (not genuine)

If a brand name flash drive is not genuine then it is counterfeit. The sale of counterfeit items is a criminal offence, as is sending them through the postal system. We wonder – does seller thiznthat2010 realise that he or she is breaking the law? Is the seller aware that he or she could be prosecuted for this in a court of law and possibly face a prison sentence?

Sometimes we do wonder if either sellers or buyers on ebay have two brain cells to rub together!

UPDATE 20/12/10
This fake eventually sold for £29.09 with £1.99 P&P – what the heck were bidders thinking? It is possible to buy a genuine 16GB flash drive for just over half this price elsewhere – quite enough for most users’ needs.

Fakes like this usually have a capacity of 4GB or under – and you can buy 4GB flash drives for under £6! What on earth is going on in ebayer’s heads? Is it stupidity? Is it greedily thinking that these things can’t really be fake? Who knows! It’s completely beyond us!! Sometimes we begin to think that ebay buyers get what they deserve.

  1. Incredible isn’t it, I guess that 12 bidders could not be wrong, this must be a special Christmas present for a good friend (not). So we wait the feedback then.
