Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

used 128GB Kingston flash drive in ebay auction from bidemup10

We think it highly unlikely that this 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drive being auctioned on ebay by bidemup10 is genuine. The seller says “This auction is for a Kingston 128 GB flash/usb drive , this usb drive is in great operating condition and was only used for school.”

If that is really the case then it is extremely unlikely that this flash drive has been used to save more than 1GB of files – too little to expose whether or not it is fake. Even even if we didn’t get a strong whiff of firey pants from this listing and the seller’s feedback we’d say it was highly unlikely to be genuine.

We think this USB flash drive is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrups files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
