Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

32GB flash drive from ebayer richforde likely to be fake capacity

The 32GB flash drive in this ebay auction from richforde (item number 300510336531) is likely to be fake capacity – this is one of the models regularly programmed to display a false capacity to the operating system and a fake capacity USB flash drive corrupts files once the real capacity (usually no more than 4GB) is full.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

UPDATE 12/01/11
Seller richforde now has a buy it now listing (item number 300514284084) for 64GB Corsair Voyager flash drives and one for 32GB Corsair flash drives (item number 300514372112) at rather low prices as well as some listings for memory cards. We think this seller probably bought from a fraudulent wholesale outlet in China.
